“Turn your Palm on and off without the power button”

by James Thornton

If you've had your Palm for a long time, especially if you work out in the field, then the chances are your handset's power button isn't in very good shape. In fact, maybe it doesn't work at all.

PowerButt2 provides you with a solution to this problem, allowing you to map the On/Off capabilities to a different button on your device. It's very simple to use and requires nothing in the way of technical knowledge.

You simply need to launch the program and choose from one of four buttons to emulate the power switch. You can plump for the DateB, Addr, Todo or Memo buttons and these will be activated with a single click. From then on, every time you hit this button you will be able to start up or shutdown your Palm device.

There's not much to it, but if you're looking for a way of replicating your worn-out power button, PowerButt2 does the job in a simple, effective manner.

From the publisher of PowerButt2

PowerButt2 is a small (5k) program for those whose Power Button is broken, it emulates (not just turns on and off the Palm) the broken power button on one of the four others. As a result, you don't have to worry about manually shutting down the device because this program can do it for you.
